Stefania Ricciardi holds a PhD in Italian studies concerning the relation between fiction and nonfiction in Italian literature since 1980. Her publications include Gli artifici della non-fiction. La messinscena narrativa in Albinati, Franchini, Veronesi(2011), Les Belges infidèles. Écrivains belges de langue française traduits en Italie (2014, as editor), Le culture del precariato (2015, co-edited with Silvia Contarini and Monica Jansen), the afterward to Occhio per occhio by Sandro Veronesi (2006), the article « Gomorra [by Roberto Saviano] e l’estetica documentale del nuovo millennio » (2011), as well as other articles on twentieth-century Italian literature.
For her translations of Belgian writers, she was awarded the Prix de la Traduction Littéraire Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles 2011.
She translated novelists such as Claro, Scholastique Mukasonga, Pierre Lemaitre, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Claude Simon, Irène Némirovsky, Marguerite Yourcenar, and the philosopher Alain Badiou.
She is currently a guest professor in Italian Linguistics at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and at KU Leuven campus Brussels.
Her research focuses on contemporary Italian literature, literary translation, Italian sociolinguistics, comparative literature.
