The annually held CLIC symposium took place on 14 November 2018. This year’s edition focused on 'Campus Literature: Literary and Intermedial Constructions of the Academic World' ('Campusliteratuur: literaire en intermediale constructies van de universitaire wereld'). It was organized by Inge Arteel, Janine Hauthal and Janna Aerts.
The programme comprised lectures by Leen Dorsman, Geert Crauwels, Sabine Hillen, Anke Brouwers, Helga Mitterbauer and Ronald Geerts. In the afternoon, Prof. Hans Vandevoorde led a panel discussion with VUB students. An interview with and reading by the poet Ruth Lasters (an alumna from VUB) concluded the day. Afterwards, CLIC offered a drink to celebrate the successful launch of the e-journal JLIC.
As a result of this conference, the volume Campus Fictions: Literary and Intermedial Constructions of the University World appeared in 2021 with Academia Press (edited by Janna Aerts, Inge Arteel and Janine Hauthal). The tri-lingual volume helped commemorate the VUB 'Feestjaar', which celebrates 50 years of the 'Vrije Universiteit Brussel', and features contributions by CLIC members Geert Crauwels, Janine Hauthal, Sabine Hillen, Hannah Van Hove and a preface by VUB rector Caroline Pauwels.
