As part of the numerous activities this year commemorating the centenary of James Baldwin's birth, a special listening event took place at Passa Porta bookshop, central Brussels on Monday 21 October 2024. The evening was dedicated to the radio play 'A Kind of Home'; a fictionalised account of Baldwin's first and fateful sojourn in Paris, devised by celebrated British writer, Caryl Phillips. The broadcast was followed by a stimulating post-show panel discussion moderated by MERLIT associate, Tola Ositelu and featuring esteemed guests: Bénédicte Ledent, the 2024 Lorand Chair of Intermediality at VUB, Tunde Adeshola Adefioye- dramaturge and teacher at the St Lucas School of Arts in Antwerp - and Lander Kesteloot, co-founder of the literary podcast "De Letterfretters". The event was close to being full to capacity.
