Cedric Van Dijck
Biography
Cedric Van Dijck is an FWO postdoctoral fellow in English Literature at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research explores the ways in which wars and waning empires shaped modernist literature, especially the work of Virginia Woolf, E.M. Forster, Mulk Raj Anand and W. Somerset Maugham. He has written on these topics and on these authors for venues such as PMLA, Modernist Cultures and the Times Literary Supplement.
Cedric Van Dijck is the author of Modernism, Material Culture and the First World War (Edinburgh UP, 2023), and a co-editor of the Edinburgh Companion to First World War Periodicals (Edinburgh UP, 2023) and The Intellectual Response to the First World War (Sussex, 2017). Before coming to Brussels, he studied English Literature in Leuven (BA), Edinburgh (MSc) and Ghent (PhD), and held postdoctoral fellowships at Ghent University, the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo and Yale University. He was also a visiting lecturer in English Literature at Fordham University (2019-20).
