Hayat Boutarbouche
Biography
Hayat Boutarbouche pursued higher education at the Hassan II Faculty of Science in Casablanca, Morocco, where she combined mathematics with physics. Upon relocating to Belgium, Boutarbouche embarked on Dutch language studies and completed her teacher’s training at Hogeschool PXL in 2016. Between 2020 and 2023, she pursued a Master in Linguistics and Literary Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel while working as a full-time mathematics and French teacher at Atheneum Sint-Truiden. Her Master’s thesis on “La Déconstruction d’une réception eurocentrée par le biais d’une œuvre fictive dans La Plus Secrète Mémoire des hommes de Mohamed Mbougar Sarr” received VUB’s Emile Lorand Prize for excellence in French literary studies. She is currently preparing a doctoral research proposal on Sarr and other self-reflexive literary works.
