Jade Thomas
Biography
Jade Thomas (she/her) is a doctoral research fellow of the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) affiliated to Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium (VUB). Her PhD project is tentatively called “Representing Blackness: Metatheater and Genre Remediation in 21st-Century African American Plays” (grant numbers: 1147222N & 1147224N) and scrutinizes play texts by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Aleshea Harris, Jeremy O. Harris, Dave Harris, and Michael R. Jackson. Her work on 21st-century American metadrama has been published in peer-reviewed journals including English Text Construction, Journal for Literary and Intermedial Crossings, and IdeAs: Idées d’Amériques (together with Prof. Ilka Saal; Universität Erfurt, Germany). She also wrote a book chapter on meta-musical for the edited volume Music and its Narrative Potential (Brill, 2024). From August till December 2023, she was a visiting Fulbright student researcher at Boston University – College of Fine Arts, USA.
