Ranu Samantrai
Biography
Ranu Samantrai is an Associate Professor of English at Indiana University, where she is also affiliated faculty for the Ph.D. Programs in Gender Studies and Cultural Studies. She is the author of AlterNatives: Black Feminism in the Post-Imperial Nation (Stanford University Press, 2002), of numerous articles on Black and Asian British and diasporic literatures and cultures, and co-editor of Interdisciplinarity and Social Justice (State University of New York Press, 2010). Her current research interrogates the founding terms and assumptions of the emergent field of Black and Asian British literary studies, including the place and time of the nation, the aesthetic of mobility, and models of history.
