Tara Brusselaers

Tara Brusselaers holds an MA in English and Dutch Linguistics and Literary Studies from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and is currently a student of the Advanced Master Literatuurwetenschappen at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL). Both her theses focus on contemporary Black British poetry: her first thesis discussed Jackie Kay’s representation and diversification of modes of national identity and belonging in Fiere (2011). Her second thesis focuses on Jay Bernard’s Surge (2019) and the application and effects of the hybrid and intermedial approaches in and on the constructed narrative. Her research interests include poetry and poetics, contemporary Black British (Women’s) Writing, multimodality and aesthetics.
