We are delighted to announce that the latest issue of the Journal for Literary and Intermedial Crossings, entitled ‘Seriality’, has been published. This special issue is occasioned by the 10th annual CLIC day on 'Seriality' in December 2020 and was edited by guest editors Ronald Geerts (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Anneleen Masschelein (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Ernest Matthijs (University of British Columbia) en Bart Nuyens (RITCS School of Arts, Erasmushogeschool Brussel).
As the guest editors remark in the introduction, this issue takes in an interest in the dynamic qualities associated with seriality today, rather than its historical proclivity for repetition. Approaching the topic from an intermedial perspective, it seeks to illuminate the interplay between serialization and the evolution and development of longstanding storylines.
In particular, this issue examines the relation between seriality and narrative storytelling across genres and media, ranging from sitcoms and novel-to-screen adaptations to documentaries and sports broadcasts. Therefore, the contributions gathered in this special issue do not focus on one medium but on the interferences, gaps, and tensions between different media.
This issue includes:
