CLIC is happy to announce that Célestina Jorge Vindes, founder of 'Pépite Blues: Books & Culture', has been named a VUB Fellow for 2024 (Proxima: Prof. Elisabeth Bekers).
Pépite Blues will act as a partner in organising literary and cultural events and workshops on creative writing, in the context of author visits and residencies and scientific meetings. Previously, Pépite Blues and CLIC have collaborated for events such as the Afro-Europeans Network conference (2022), events with CLIC writer-in-residence Laura Fish (2023), the conference 'Recentring Form(s) in and of the Margins: the Politics of Self-Reflexivity' (2024) and the new lecture series 'Ties That Bind Us' (2024).

Celestina Jorge Vindes obtained a master’s in philosophy and a master’s in population and development sciences from the Université catholique de Louvain. In 2019, she founded Pépite Blues, a bookstore with a cultural mission to place literature in dialogue with other art forms, taking Africa and its diasporas as the starting point for a dialogue with the world. In 2023, she was given the ELLE Woman of the Year Award for Entrepreneurship by magazine ELLE België.
VUB Fellows of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
The fellows of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities have a background in art, philosophy, culture or the media. As ambassadors, they contribute to VUB’s teaching and research programmes and facilitate cooperation with organisations outside the university.
