CLIC is excited to announce the publication of Mayröcker-Handbuch: Leben - Werk - Wirkung (J.B. Metzler), co-edited by CLIC member Inge Arteel!
About this book
This handbook, published on the 100th anniversary of Friederike Mayröcker (1924-2021), is the first reference work on the literature of this leading Austrian author whose enormous productivity has led to a vast oeuvre in experimental and lyrical prose, poetry and radio plays. The handbook presents her work by means of individual descriptions of the most important volumes of poetry and prose and a selection of the radio plays; poetic motives and writing procedures are illuminated in more detail in specialized contributions. Chapters on Mayröcker's continuation of literary and artistic traditions situate her work in a cultural context. The focus on the work is framed by contributions on the author's life and impact. They provide an overview of Mayröcker's writing life and her stagings of authorship, of the intermedial adaptations of her texts in the form of musical compositions, visualizations and theatre performances, of the reception on the literary market, and of the translations in the Anglo-American, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian-speaking world. Not least with the materials in the appendix, including a selected bibliography and an overview of the archive holdings, the handbook is an indispensable reference work for Mayröcker scholars and all those who want to become one.
