Sarah Ilott

Sarah Ilott is a Senior Lecturer in English Studies at Teesside University, UK, where she teaches modules on Postcolonial Writing and British Muslims in Contemporary Fiction and Film. Her research focuses on postcolonial British literature, with a special interest in popular genres such as comedy and the gothic. She has recently published a monograph with Palgrave entitled New Postcolonial British Genres: Shifting the Boundaries (2015) in which she explores four new genres of literature that have evolved to suit the changing face of postcolonial Britain over the last two decades, considering the work of Helen Oyeyemi, Zadie Smith and Karline Smith amongst others. Sarah has also published an article on Oyeyemi co-authored with Chloe Buckley in the Journal of Commonwealth Literature, and is now in the process of putting together an edited collection on the author. Her other ongoing project is on representations of British multiculturalism in screen comedy since the late 1970s.
