Laura Van Nieuwenhuyzen

Laura is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Dutch and English Linguistics and Literary Studies. As a Talent for Research trainee, she joins the CLIC research group ‘Global modernisms’ under supervision of Birgit Van Puymbroeck and Cedric Van Dijck. During her traineeship she will be assisting in Beau Serrus’s doctoral project, which is provisionally titled “Far from Innocent: Modernism, Children and the British Empire (1897-1960)”. Laura's main area of interest is modernist literature, which she aims to examine from the point of view of Disability Studies, Queer Studies and Feminist Studies, paying special attention to the intersections between these fields.
