MERLIT researchers, Prof. Eva Ulrike Pirker (pictured above) and Ceydanur Temurok participated in the international conference, From Experiences to Storytelling of Postmigration: Reinventing the Narratives of the Self and the World in Pluralistic European Societies, hosted by UC Louvain (17-19 September).
Ceydanur Temurok presented The Literary Exploration of Class in Caryl Phillips’s 'In the Falling Snow (2009)', exploring how literary texts articulate belonging and class in the context of postmigration.
Eva Ulrike Pirker discussed the intricacies of self-translation and cultural translation in the context of postmigration, with reflections from Natascha Wodin’s oeuvre.
The conference was a rich opportunity to exchange perspectives on literature, postmigration, cultural translation, and storytelling in Europe.
