Vincent Mobilia
Biography
Vincent Mobilia is a PhD candidate in Sciences of Interpretation at the University of Catania and a visiting PhD scholar at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research project focuses on a digital scholarly edition of Giuseppe Cesare Abba’s Noterelle d’uno dei Mille, complete with critical apparatus and annotations, and on the development of a portal dedicated to Risorgimento literature (digitalrisorgimento.org).
His research interests include nineteenth- and twentieth-century Italian literature, with particular attention to the processes of national identity formation, the representation of “the people”, and the relationship between literature and national memory, also from a Digital Humanities perspective. He has presented his research at academic conferences.
He is the author of studies on the pedagogical function of Edmondo De Amicis’s writing in shaping Risorgimento and post-unification Italy; on anonymity and political satire in Carlo Collodi’s Risorgimento journalism; and on Abba’s Noterelle, exploring their linguistic, mythopoeic and political-rhetorical dimensions.
