Author Guidelines
Contributions should be between 5,000 and 6,000 words (references and footnotes included) in any of the following languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian or Spanish. Please also include an abstract of maximum 350 words (in English and, if applicable, also in the language of your article, i.e. Dutch, French, German, Italian or Spanish) and a list of 3-5 keywords (in the same (two) language(s)). Submit your article in Word format. Figures, video and audio files etc. should be saved separately from the text.
Format of the text
Headings should be in 12 point, bold, Century Gothic, small caps. The text body should be in 11 point, Century Gothic, 1,15 line spacing. For interviews, first and last names of speakers should appear in full and in bold throughout the text. Please limit footnotes to a bare minimum. These should be consistent with the latest MLA-style, as similarly imposed on in-text references and reference lists.

Format of bibliography
The bibliography should be listed ‘Works Cited.’ List all entries cited in the text or any other items used to prepare the manuscript in alphabetical order – first by authors, then – in case of multiple entries by the same author – by year of publication. Alphabetize works with no known author by their title. Please follow the latest English MLA-format, including mention of the publication medium (even for contributions in languages other than English). Format of in-text quotations
For quotations within the text, please use double inverted commas on all occasions, except for a quotation within a quotation. In the latter case single inverted commas should be used. Quotations longer than 40 words should be typed in an indented paragraph format, 10 point, without the use of inverted commas. If quotations are in a different language than the one in which the article is written, please provide the translation in a footnote.
In accordance with the latest MLA style, please format the in-text reference as last name followed by page number, in between brackets.
Format of contributions in various languages
For contributions in languages other than English, the conventions for capitalization of the respective language system should be applied. However, please keep to the English conventions for MLA referencing, including conventions for punctuation, spaces and apostrophes. Accordingly, please place a space after (but never before) punctuation marks and use double punctuation apostrophes (more commonly known as "curly apostrophes"), saving the use of single punctuation apostrophe's for a quote within a quote. Format of video and audio
Video files are best submitted in .mp4 format (maximum size: 96Mb).
Audio clips are best submitted in .mp3 format, but we will accept CDs and convert these.
