On 20 October, on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Elfriede Jelinek, the Austrian Cultural Forum Österreichisches Kulturforum) and VUB/CLIC (Inge Arteel) are organizing a screening of the film Die Klavierspielerin/La Pianiste (Michael Haneke) to draw attention to the work of Jelinek. The screening of Haneke's film adaptation La Painiste (2001) will be preceded by an introduction by Inge Arteel on the literary importance of the novel, followed by a reading by the poet Judith Nika Pfeifer of selected passages from the book. The screening will be followed by a reception.
